As a matter of perspective, 736 million people live on less than $1.90 a day, or 10% of the world’s population; If you make more than $34,000 a year, you’re among the world’s richest. 3 out of every 10 people live without safe and sanitary drinking water, and 2.4 billion people are without basic sanitation services. Children are more than twice as likely as adults to live in extreme poverty. Global extreme poverty rose in 2020 for the first time in over 20 years as the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic caused about 100 million additional people are living in poverty because of the pandemic. Our hope is to invest in innovations that not only improve the lives of these people, but provide sustainable business models that allow them to be self-sufficient one day.
