Climate change is a long-term change in the average weather patterns that have come to define Earth’s local, regional and global climates. These changes have a broad range of observed effects that include rising temperatures, melting glaciers that cause rising oceans, changes in weather patterns, and impacts on all human’s way of life, food sources, and health. The largest impact of climate change is that it could wipe off up to 18% of GDP, or $23T, off the worldwide economy by 2050. Innovations are needed to not only combat climate change, but to also help us adapt and make use of untapped resources.
