Cancer

Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells, and globally 1 in 3 people are diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Cancer causes about 1 in every 6 deaths worldwide, more than AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria combined, and it is the second-leading cause of death (following cardiovascular diseases) worldwide. According to estimates from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), there will be 17.0 million new cancer cases in 2021 worldwide, and the corresponding estimated cancer deaths in 2021 will be 9.5 million (about 26,000 cancer deaths a day), with double the rates in developing countries. Our intention is to fund innovations that supports the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, to promote greater equity, and to help improve people's lives with the disease.
